Dobro/Vocals: I started playing guitar around 13 and was influenced by the “Outlaw Country” musicians (Willie Nelson, Waylon Jennings, and Merle Haggard). My mandolin playing was prompted by listening to Tim O’Brien and my dobro influences came from Rob Ickes, Jerry Douglas, Joe Walsh and Derek Trucks, which were all great slide guitar players. I also love to sing and featured in many songs.

Mandolin/Vocals: My obsession with guitar started around age 6. I’ve played many styles over the years...a chance jam session with a bluegrass band prompted a change of direction towards acoustic music that continues today.
Previous projects as a mandolinist/guitarist include SwitchGrass, HalfGrass'd, Sunset Highway Band, Joe & The Wheel Monkeys, and now the four-piece band: HalfGrassTrio.

Upright Bass/Vocals: I began music lessons at 10 with clarinet and sax. In college, I switched to guitar and bass, playing electric bass in bands in Jersey. After moving west, I played rockabilly and blues guitar. In Portland, I joined Headless Human Clones and Cosmic Ozzies on lead guitar. Now, I play with the Wheel Monkeys, and HalfGras

Guitar/Vocals: I'm originally from Washington DC, began playing guitar in elementary school and gave my first performance in fourth grade. I attended an alternative high school focused on music, continued my studies at Northern Virginia Community College, and developed a passion for bluegrass and country music. Since 1979, I've lived in Portland, played with various bands, and contributed to the Northwest Bluegrass scene by organizing jams, teaching guitar, and promoting shows. Now retired, I dedicate my time to songwriting, practicing, and collaborating with the Half Grass Trio (+1), eager to keep making music as long as I can.
